Frederick M. Conrad
Attorney At Law

Named after his grandfather, Tallahassee’s first oral surgeon,Fred Conrad is a 3rd generation Tallahassee Native who grew up on a small family farm in Northern Leon County. As a child, he watched his father, J. Marshall Conrad, practice law in Tallahassee’s oldest law firm, and at an early age Fred began working in his father’s law firm where he was exposed to many aspects of the law and learned the importance of a lawyer’s reputation in Tallahassee’s legal community. After attending Leon High School, Fred graduated from The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. where, as a senior, he led his mock trial team to the national finals.

Fred’s experience as a defense counsel for cadets charged with honor violations at The Citadel inspired his career as a defense attorney and ultimately led to his passion for defending people against state and federal governments. After graduating from The Citadel in 1990, Fred attended Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama and again concentrated his education in the field of trial work. While putting himself through law school using his musical talents playing in a nightclub band, he led his law school’s mock trial team to several victories including the American Trial Lawyer’s Association’s National Finals.

After graduating from Cumberland in 1993 and passing the Florida Bar shortly thereafter, Fred returned to his native Tallahassee and started his legal career as a State Prosecutor working under William N. Meggs, State Attorney. With a high conviction rate, he quickly rose to the position of lead DUI prosecutor and was soon after promoted to the felony trial division where he handled more serious DUI cases. Late in 1995, Fred left the State Attorney’s Office to join a small criminal defense firm that primarily handled DUI cases. In January of 1998, Fred opened up his own law firm where the majority of his practice is still dedicated to DUI and criminal defense all over the State of Florida.

Since 1998, Fred Conrad’s law practice has been bestowed with several honors including Fred’s selection among twenty-five (25) defense lawyers nationwide to attend the National Highway Safety and Traffic Administrations symposium in Washington, D.C. to write the nation’s model law for aggressive driving which has since been adopted by most states. In 2007, Fred was only one of two (2) lawyers in Tallahassee in the field of criminal law to be named as “Legal Elite” by Florida Trend Magazine. During his career as an attorney, Fred has handled in excess of 4500 DUI and criminal cases (including several high profile defense cases) in Federal District Court, the United States Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, Numerous State County and Circuit Courts, Florida’s First District Court of Appeals, and The Florida Supreme Court.

Fred’s business philosophy is simple: “The success of any business should be measured by the satisfaction of the businesses’ clients. Using that standard, I would dare to say that no other law practice has been more successful than mine.” Fred handles every aspect of each case personally. There are no associates in his office and everyone of his clients can rest assured that only Fred Conrad will be appearing in Court on their behalf. Fred’s loyal and trusted legal assistant, Jaime Cole, has been with him for six (6) years and was formerly a legal assistant with The Second Judicial Circuit (Tallahassee) State Attorney’s Office. Jaime is also dedicated to every client and her organization, communication, and paralegal skills are second to none. Jaime also has roots in the legal field as both her father and husband are former law enforcement officers.

In his spare time, Fred enjoys spending time with Laura, his wife of eighteen (18) years (who is also an attorney), his three children, Crawford (16), Grayson (12), and John-Marshall (10). He also enjoys hunting, fishing, flying, tennis and playing several musical instruments.
